Tributes paid to lifesaving Island police officers

Tributes have been paid to a number of police officers on the Isle of Man whose courage, dedication and professionalism have helped keep people safe. 

They were among the wider emergency services and members of the public who were recognised at the Chief Constable's Annual Awards ceremony yesterday - as a way of saying 'Thank You'. 

10 people - including police officers, paramedics and members of the public - were commended for saving the life of a biker at Devil's Elbow who could have died without their "brave actions". 

Also recognised was John Paul Glover - a passer-by who jumped into action after a bouncy castle blew into the sea during Douglas Carnival:  

That officer was PC Tony Lawler who received a commendation for his efforts - other colleagues who gained the accolade included two female constables who wrestled a knife from a vulnerable person.
