Trevor Hemmings, one of the Island’s most famous residents, has died at the age of 86.
In a statement from Preston North End, the football club owned by the businessman, it is confirmed he passed away this evening, October 11.
The three time Grand National Winner ran several businesses while living on the Island, and supported local charities, having recently donated to the newly opened ‘Dylan’s playground’ at Rebecca House.
Preston North End have said a further statement will be made in the coming days, but his family ask that their privacy be respected at this difficult time.
