A Maughold pensioner has been fined £300 after failing to tax his tractor.
75-year-old James David Moore, of School House Road, last purchased tax for the vehicle in 2004.
He was caught out after parking his tractor on West Quay in Ramsey when it developed a fault in June – checks by police revealed it hadn’t been taxed for 14 years.
Moore admitted the offence via Coroner’s Admission.
In mitigation, read out at Douglas Courthouse, Moore said he was ‘surprised’ when the offence came to light and blamed it on the fact he hadn’t been sent a renewal letter.
