The Chief Minister says an event marking Hanukkah has taken on extra significance after the Bondi Beach terror attack in Australia.
Alf Cannan lit a candle at a private gathering of the Island's Jewish community, hosted by Bishop of Sodor and Man Tricia Hillas.
The Bishop posted a message on Facebook talking about courage and not letting hope be extinguished by the violence in Sydney.
The Island's Lieutenant Governor Sir John Lorimer was also at the ceremonial dinner.
