Think before you drink - that's the message from the Department of Health this Christmas.
It's launched a new festive health campaign urging people to avoid drinking to excess, look after friends on a night out and keep belongings safe.
The campaign is designed to counteract a year-on-year incident peak and the message is being spread in public areas, on social media sites and on the internet.
Public health strategist Dawn Henley says drinking too much can have serious effects on health and wellbeing:
