Police have blasted a thief who was caught stealing from her uncle's law firm saying her actions have left the business with "serious difficulties".
32-year-old Fenella Jane Carter, from Christian Avenue in Peel, was jailed for 20 months on Monday after admitting taking £33,700 from Carter's Advocates.
Carter stole the money from client and current accounts between 2009 and 2011 whilst working as a bookkeeper for the firm - spending much of the cash on a horsebox.
The Isle of Man Constabulary says the court case is as a result of a "protracted and complex investigation" by the Financial Crime Unit.
Carter was arrested in 2014 but denied any dishonesty until she eventually pleaded guilty to theft earlier this year.
Police say she "seriously abused her position" to carry out the crime and then disguise her offending saying it's had a "significant impact" on all those involved - and not just in "financial terms".
