Douglas carnival may not go ahead this year.
The event has run in its current format since 2014, and is known to attract thousands of visitors.
In the most recent sitting of Douglas Borough Council, members reviewed and debated a report which outlined some of the challenges the carnival posed.
The report said there is little evidence of economic benefit to Douglas Town Centre resulting from holding the Douglas Carnival - adding they do find the necessary road closures disruptive.
The redesign of Douglas Promenade also means areas previously used for floats can are no longer accessible.
Ultimately, members agreed the carnival is a worthwhile community event, and so the topic will be discussed in more detail.
Officers will explore alternative routes, vehicles, and formats, in an outline proposal to be submitted to the Regeneration and Communities Committee, later this month.
