Port St Mary's sub postmaster says he'll stay in the job while the Post Office looks for his replacement.
The organisation said it would shut its post office in the village because it couldn't find anybody interested in the role.
But after it received a late expression of interest, Isle of Man Post Office says Jeff Calvert has agreed to carry on working.
Anybody interested in taking over operations in the village has until Tuesday next week to submit their application.
