A columnist for the Telegraph Newspaper has given his support to Mark Cavendish ahead of this Sunday’s Sports Personality awards saying the Manxman must receive the top honour.
His reasoning is that out of the 10 sportsmen and women who all had highly impressive years in their own right, he is the only one who can be classed a personality.
He settled for fourth place last year after a very successful season.
He had a very shaky start to his last season, which steadily gained momentum throughout the year, with impressive wins in the Tour De France silencing his doubters.
The awards will be broadcast live at 7pm on Sunday.
