A Willaston teenager whose untaxed car had two bald tyres has been fined £580.
Scott George Cooper of Willaston Crescent appeared before Deputy High Bailiff Christopher Arrowsmith at Douglas Courthouse.
The 19 year old admitted having no vehicle licence and two counts of having a defective tyre on September 20.
The court heard police stopped Cooper’s silver Vauxhall Corsa on Bayr Cam in Douglas at 3.15pm that afternoon and found his tax was two months out of date.
An inspection of the vehicle showed both front tyres were dangerously worn down.
Cooper’s advocate said the teenager had recently bought the car from a man in Jurby who assured him it was taxed and roadworthy, but added he accepted checking the car was his responsibility.
As well as a fine, Mr Arrowsmith imposed six penalty points and ordered Cooper to pay £50 in costs.
