A teenager from Douglas has been banned from the road after crashing his car into a field and fleeing the scene.
19-year-old Morgan Askew, of Gorsecroft, didn't have a full driving licence when he lost control on a bend last year.
At Douglas Courthouse yesterday he admitted driving without due care and attention, having no licence and no insurance.
Police were called to Johnny Watterson's Lane on December 12th after reports that a Mazda had collided with the embankment and gone off-road.
When officers arrived they found the keys were still in the ignition and the car wasn't displaying L-plates.
Askew's advocate told the court: "He's extremely sorry for what he's done and takes full responsibility for it."
Magistrates fined him £800 and ordered him to pay prosecution costs of £50 - they also disqualified him from driving for eight weeks.
