A teaching union whose members are striking this week says it's suffered the biggest drop in wages across the UK, Jersey and Guernsey over more than a decade.
NASUWT members will stage walkouts on Wednesday and Thursday, meaning the majority of pupils will stay at home.
On Twitter, the union says Manx teachers have seen a 30 per cent drop in their wages in real terms since 2010.
It says it's tried for years to negotiate a solution with government without success.
Manx teachers have seen a real-terms cut of around 30% since 2010 when measured against RPI inflation. They also have had higher pension and NICs making the impact far worse. This pay erosion is far higher than that experienced by teachers in the UK, Guernsey and Jersey.
