Taxpayers' £70K bill for Paradise Papers PR

The government says it spent an extra £70,000 on PR in the wake of the Paradise Papers.

More than 13 million documents were leaked last October, sparking press coverage from around the world about tax schemes for the rich.

In the House of Keys this week, Ramsey MHK Lawrie Hooper asked about emergency funds claimed by departments on top of their usual budgets.

In a written reply, Treasury Minister Alf Cannan said the Cabinet Office had been given an extra £70,000 for public relations work after the story broke.
