Taxi drivers given time to make their voices heard

Taxi drivers have been given more time to consider new plans which would see them being charged for picking up from the airport.

The Department of Infrastructure wants to implement a fee for ply-for-hire vehicles which would see them operating on a pre-paid permit system.

This would cost £1,000 a year - pre-booked taxis would also be subject to change, having to use a short stay taxi park and paying £1 an hour.

Many drivers are off Island due to the half term holidays - the department has now given them until February 27th to make their opinions heard.
