A dangerous driver who crashed into another motorist whilst undertaking her has been banned from the road for 18 months.
29-year-old Karl Ronald Benson, of Copse Hill in Douglas, hit the Ford Fiesta driver on the dual carriageway outside Ronaldsway Airport on December 11th last year.
Instead of stopping Benson fled the scene and was arrested by officers a short time later.
Benson, who was driving a white Audi at the time, later admitted dangerous driving as well as having no insurance or tax and of failing to stop and failing to report the crash.
A guilty plea was also entered to having a vehicle in a dangerous condition - after his arrest Benson's car was taken to the Vehicle Testing Centre where a number of defects were noted.
At Douglas Courthouse last week Magistrates sentenced Benson to a 14 weeks custody which was suspended for two years - he was also placed under a supervision order for 12 months.
Benson was ordered to pay court costs of £125 and will have to take and pass an extended driving test when his ban ends.
