Ramsey harbour is set to undergo improvements, which could then potentially pave the way for more significant developments.
A survey into the Ramsey swing bridge will commence at the end of the month, looking into the condition of the structure that has been at the heart of the town for 120 years.
The exact cost of the exercise will only be ascertained once the survey has been carried out.
Captain of Harbours Michael Brew has said this could potentially pave the way for future, more substantial harbour based works, with plans for a Ramsey marina put on the back burner given the current challenging conditions.
There has been budget allocation for this work to be carried out between 2013 and 2014.
