'Suicide support' given to Island Police officers is considered to be 'in line' with the best in the UK.
That's according to Home Affairs Minister Graham Cregeen - following a question for written response in Tynwald last week.
Arbory, Castletown and Malew MHK Jason Moorhouse asked what support is given to police officers who attend the scene of a suicide.
Mr Cregeen revealed a variety of approaches are taken to support those who who may have been exposed to traumatic situations.
The approaches include an initial debriefing, the use of trauma risk management and if necessary, referral to the Government’s Staff Welfare Service.
He added although there is no standard approach to suicide support in UK Police Forces, support provided on Island is considered to be in line with the best in the UK.
