The Manx government has launched its annual Stoptober campaign saying "help is at hand".
Encouraging employers to create a smoke-free zone is the key focus of this year's Stoptober campaign
The Manx government said if you are thinking of quitting, you can get support from Quit4You-an advice service delivered by trained specialists.
A government spokesman said giving up cigarettes will bring the following benefits:
- After 48 hours carbon monoxide is eliminated from the body. Lungs start to clear out mucus and other smoking debris
- After 72 hours breathing becomes easier as bronchial tubes begin to relax
- After 2 to 12 weeks blood circulation improves, making physical activity like walking and running easier
You can find more information about how to quit here.
