Small Goods Vehicles To Get 10mph Increase If Proposal Is Approved
The Department of Infrastructure are inviting public feedback on a new proposal which will see the speed limits for small goods vehicles increased.
The Government have put forward proposals to increase the speed limits and cancel the compulsory duty to display the limit on the dashboard and rear of goods vehicles.
The Government says these vehicles are more than capable of being driven safely on unrestricted roads at higher speeds than is currently permitted.
It’s hoped by increasing the speed limit on the unrestricted roads there will be a decrease in road traffic collisions as the need to overtake will be reduced.
There has been a uniform increase of 10 mph for each of the vehicles travelling under restrictions.
