Speaker won't rule out bid for Chief Minister

Juan Watterson MHK

The new Speaker of the House of Keys says he hasn't ruled out standing for the position of Chief Minister.

Rushen MHK Juan Watterson was elected to the post on Tuesday - making him the youngest person ever to take the role.

However he's taken to Facebook to say he won't rule out standing for the top job if none of the three current candidates are elected.

Howard Quayle, Kate Beecroft and Alf Cannan are all hoping to replace Allan Bell when Tynwald votes on the matter next week.
