A local Swan who lost its mate earlier this year - is on the lookout for love.
'Simon' - was rescued by the Manx SPCA last week after being found 'lost and confused' wandering in the road outside Ard Jerkyll.
Although a bit thin and dejected, the bird was otherwise well - testing negative for Bird Flu.
Upon some research - the MSPCA found out Simon's last six sightings had been at the Eairy Dam in Foxdale - where a dead swan had been found weeks earlier.
The charity says this will have been Simon’s mate of several years (as they were the only two swans at the Dam), so her death must have caused him to wander.
Now, after spending a few days recuperating - he was released onto a private estate - with a number of 'feathered friends' to keep him company.
The MSPCA adds it 'really hopes' Simon finds a new mate before too long - as he could live for another 10-15 years and it would be 'good to think he enjoys them to the full.'
