Infrastructure says work on a road behind Douglas promenade will mean shutting the route for up to six weeks.
Resurfacing work sets underway on Palace Road from today, with the lower part up to Falcon Cliff closing completely.
The upper section will remain two-way, with temporary traffic lights and a 20mph speed limit in place.
The department say it expects the scheme to take between four and six weeks to finish.
