A new helpline which will offer 24 hour support to elderly people has been launched today.
The Silver Line is the brainchild of TV star Esther Rantzen who was on the Island for the official launch.
It’s being piloted in the Isle of Man and Manchester and if it's successful over the next three months it will be rolled out across the UK.
The freephone telephone service will offer people advice,
information and friendship and will help direct residents to help and support in
the local community.
