Shetland MP hails Manx blueprint

Tavish Scott, and Shetland Island’s councilor Malcolm Bell, spent their visit gathering information about the Island’s experience as a crown dependency and studying the legislative powers of Tynwald. 

During their time here the men attended the House of Keys and Legislative Council sittings and met President Clare Christian and Speaker of the House Steve Rodan. 

Mr Scott said at a time of intense debate about constitutional change in Scotland it was helpful to look and learn from other jurisdictions to try and secure the future of the Islands adding if the Shetland Islands stands still, it will get left behind.
