Please don't throw ammunition in our skips to be burnt.
That's the message from the Northern Civic Amenity Site after a bag containing shotgun shells was dumped in a skip of burnable waste.
Fortunately, workers spotted the bag and took it out before it went in a compactor and police took the ammunition away to be disposed of safely.
The site says if you're unsure what's suitable waste, you can ask a member of staff for advice.
