Sex abuse cases increase by 126 per cent

The number of sexual offences being reported to police on the Island has risen by 126 per cent. 

There were 294 incidents logged between April 2013 and the end of March this year - that's up from 130 the previous year. 
 
In Tynwald this week the Home Affairs Minister paid tribute to two victims of sexual abuse who have "busted the taboo" and spoken publically about the issue. 
 
Lisa Taylor and Sadie Sanders are spearheading a petition to increase the sentences handed to paedophiles on the Island. 
 
However Juan Watterson says whilst it's positive people are coming forward it is putting strain on the constabulary:
