The first races of this year's TT kicked off on Saturday with Peter Hickman winning the Superbike Race.

After leading the six lap race from start to finish, he crossed the line 39.9s ahead of Dean Harrison and Michael Dunlop, who were followed by Ian Hutchinson and John McGuinness on his 100th TT race start.

Glen Irwin was the fastest ever newcomer with a final lap speed of 129.849mph, finishing in eighth place.

The Sidecar race was red flagged after an incident at Argo's Leap involving newcomers Cesar Chanel and Olivier Lavorel, who was sadly killed, putting a stop to the day's racing.

Cesar was transferred to Aintree Hospital and is in critical condition.

Mike Booth and Dave Moffitt both continue to receive treatment at Aintree after crashing during practice sessions, and are stable.

Away from the track, Ramsey Sprintfest saw 12 bands and musicians play in Market Square over the weekend, and Bushy's TT village is open again today from 12pm.

Looking at today's racing:

The Mountain Road will close from Barrule Park in Ramsey at 9:15am and from the Bungalow at 9:30am.

All other roads on the TT course will close at 10am.

The Supersport TT Race will get underway at 10:45am, with Sidecars taking place at 1:10pm after Saturday's race was stopped.

That's followed by the Superstock TT at 3pm, with roads expected to re-open at 5pm.

The course will re-open no later than 9:30pm.
