A Freedom of Information request asked for details about the cost of providing meals to youngsters in the Island's schools.
In its response, the Department of Education, Sport and Culture said this last year, they cost a total of £2.95 million - but the projected cost for this year is just £2.88 million.
It added the average cost of a primary school meal is £5.02, with parents paying £2.55 towards them.
