People have been warned not to dump unwanted items at sea or to lay fishing gear on shipping routes.
It’s after rope became tangled around the Ben-my-Chree’s propellers on Sunday morning.
Divers from the visiting Royal Navy minesweeper HMS Brocklesby stepped in to help remove the equipment and the Ben was able to depart with a slight delay.
In previous cases vessels have had to be taken out of service for prolonged periods of time while the damage is assessed.
