The first phase of work to reconstruct one of the busiest routes into Douglas will take a month less than expected.
From Monday work will begin to strengthen Pulrose Bridge so that it can be used as a diversion route while major works get underway on Peel Road.
The bridge needs to be reinforced using concrete but following a review by engineers it’s been determined that it will take five weeks to complete as opposed to nine.
Infrastructure Minister David Cretney told us how the department had been able to slash the times:
