The shipping union RMT says it's unsure if the Ellan Vannin Line will come to fruition describing the plans as 'sketchy'.
It has voiced concerns that the company will use low-cost foreign crews and flag of convenience ships in an effort to undermine the Steam Packet’s operation.
Ellan Vannin Line is promising to bring down prices and improve customer service when it launches a freight and passenger service next year.
