River bank protection works are set to start on a section of Douglas River today and could take until September to complete.
The work will go from a point in front of Pulrose Power Station stretching back 120 metres towards the NSC.
It comes as the current protection in place has deteriorated with age, with plans to now build a concrete wall.
Works will begin today, with the contractor having to be out of the river by September 30 at the latest.
The project is timed to avoid the spawning season for fish within the river.
