Residential application for golf links rejected

It’s been confirmed that a planning request to build houses on the Castletown Golf Links Hotel site was recently rejected.

MHKs Graham Gregeen and Richard Ronan issued a statement saying they met with Derbyhaven Residents’ Society and a developer last Thursday.

The statement said the developer is interested in building a leisure facility where the hotel currently stands.

However, a previous offer had been made to the Receiver of Fort Island Ltd to develop a residential area which was rejected.

Both Mr Cregeen and Mr Ronan said everyone present at the meeting believed a leisure facility for the site is perfectly viable and they will continue to pursue this intention.

They said, "We both believe that the site at the Golf Links Hotel should be for leisure use, and will be asking for a meetings with the Chief Minister Allan Bell MHK and the Minister for DED John Shimmin MHK, as well as Heritage Homes to ensure that this site is not made residential”.
