A report on a draft marriage measure will be discussed by Tynwald in this month’s sitting.
The report outlines that the aim of the measure is to reduce the danger of ’sham marriages’ for immigration purposes.
It would require the ’Anglican marriage of a foreign national to be authorised by a registrar’s certificate, not by banns or a common licence.’
The report recommends Tynwald present the measure to Her Majesty for Her Royal Assent.
