Concerns have been raised that government is 'robbing Peter to pay Paul' by putting up public sector rent.
That's the opinion of Douglas North MHK David Ashford who quizzed the Infrastructure Minister in Tynwald yesterday.
He wanted to know whether Ray Harmer's department had consulted with the Treasury about the impact that the two per cent increase will have on benefit payments.
Mr Ashford was told that the two departments had consulted but the social security benefit uplift will be revealed in next year's Budget. .
