Dogs must be kept on leads on the Ayres National Nature Reserve from now until the end of July.
As the Ayres is an important refuge for ground nesting birds that have been declining in numbers across the Island, dogs must be kept on leads to comply with the byelaws.
The restrictions to dog walkers apply to the heathland and beach, as once chicks have hatched it can be up to five weeks until they can fly.
Visitors to the reserve are asked to stick to the main paths, and failure to abide could result in a fine of up to £5,000.
