Martine Peters Looking Forward to Having Cast Removed So He Can Get Fit Again
3FM have been speaking to Manx Marine Martin Peters yesterday to find out how the road to recovery is going.
23-year-old Martin sustained serious injuries to his leg when he was caught up in a suicide bomb blast in Afghanistan in July.
He suffered a broken tibia and fibula as well as shrapnel wounds, following a spell in hospital in Birmingham he is now recovering well on the Island.
The former St Ninian’s High School student was serving with 40 Commando Royal Marines.
He said the ordeal hasn't put him off the idea of returning to his unit, by the time he is recovered however they will have returned back to their base.
He said the worst thing about being taken out of Afghanistan is not knowing how all of his friends still out in the warzone are doing:
