Treasury minister Alf Cannan says the government spent more than £219,000 collecting rates for local authorities last year.
He faced a question for written reply in the House of Keys this week from Douglas MHK David Ashford.
Mr Cannan said last year the cost of collecting rates had risen from £207,910 to £219,241.
And he added once the cost of the government's valuation office was taken into account, the total bill came to just over £398,000.
