Plans to scrap the Ramsey to Laxey tram service have been shelved after it was deemed it would have a detrimental impact on visitor numbers, and visitor experience.
The Systra Rail review has been published today; it said although removing the service would bring small benefits, this excluded the impact on visitor spending.
lt was also proposed that they reduce the service to a single track, and create a parallel cycle track.
This option was explored as it was thought it would allow for ongoing track maintenance savings, while retaining and enhancing the green travel benefits of the railway.
Upon further exploration however it was deemed that this wouldn't represent value for money, and given the seasonal nature of the trams it would not be worth the outlay to make it happen.
