A man who tried to be sent to prison by smashing a police van windscreen got his wish when he was arrested.
Shaun David Bignall of Mooragh Promenade in Ramsey appeared before Deputy High Bailiff James Brooks at Douglas Courthouse.
The 32-year-old admitted one count of criminal damage at the commissioner's car park in Ramsey in the early hours of February 27.
Prosecutor Hazel Carroon told the hearing CCTV captured Bignall as he walked to the police station with a brick and knocked on the door, throwing the brick at the van when nobody answered.
An officer came outside and Bignall told him he wanted to go to prison - when the officer saw the damaged van, he arrested Bignall.
After hearing Bignall had already spent 10 days in custody, Mr Brooks fined him £150 and ordered him to pay £125 costs at the rate of £10 per week deducted from his benefits.
