The Chief Minister is urging residents to avoid misinformation on social media.
Howard Quayle MHK says whilst it can be an important way for people to stay in touch with loved ones it can also allow inaccurate information to circulate, adding there's 'nothing more powerful than the Manx rumour mill'.
As a result Mr Quayle is asking people to think carefully before sharing information and to consider whether a source is reliable.
He insists government will always do what it can to get details out as quickly as possible.
