The Fire and Rescue Service has urged all residents to check if their smoke alarms are working when they change their clocks this weekend.
To mark the start of British Summer Time on Sunday, members of the public are being asked to "push the button” and test the device.
According to statistics you are four times more likely to die in a fire if your smoke alarm is not working.
Firefighter David Cowley told 3FM that help was available for those residents who had difficulty testing their device:
