Public asked to nominate Island's best farmers

The Department of Environment, Food and Agriculture has asked the public to nominate the best farmers on the Isle of Man for a Tomorrows’ Farmer Award.

The awards recognise and reward farmers who are committed to the future of the agricultural industry on the Island.

Nominations can be submitted in two categories - the Tomorrows’ Farmer Award and the Judges Special Award for a Young Farmer.

DEFA Minister Phil Gawne said the awards provide an opportunity to share best practice, to inspire others and to help people understand the hard work that goes into producing quality produce.

Nominations should be submitted to DEFA before March 30th and should outline how the farmer meets the selection criteria including farming efficiently and profitably, being market focussed and promoting local food.

The winners will be announced in August.
