The former assistant manager of a Douglas pub has been given a conditional discharge after admitting provoking behaviour.
43 year old Ian Newton, who gave his address in court as the Bowling Green Hotel, appeared before magistrates at Douglas Courthouse.
The hearing was told he’d been bound over to keep the peace on February 28 after grabbing his partner by the throat in the flat above the pub.
But just days later, he went back to the building and shouted his partners name, banging on a door to the upstairs accommodation.
A charge of common assault on his partner, the pub manager, was withdrawn by the prosecution.
Magistrates imposed a twelve-month conditional discharge meaning he could be punished again for the offence if he commits other crimes in the next year.
They also ordered him to pay £125 costs and forfeit £250 of a recognisance sum imposed when he was bound over.
