Telecoms provider Sure says the recent telecoms regulations proposed by the Communication Commission are weak and will cost islanders money.
A review concluded that Manx Telecom should be given significant market power in much of the wholesale market, as it owns the majority of the network.
In an effort to prevent it abusing this position the review stated extra obligations can be imposed on the operator’s licence.
However chief commercial officer at Cable & Wireless, Andy Bridson, says the proposals are still not addressing some of the important issues the company believe to be anti-competitive - issues he believes will hit the pockets of Manx consumers.
He says although there are aspects of the report that inspire optimism action needs to be taken quickly to ensure a more level playing field is established:
