Proposal Put Forward to Clamp Down on Smoking in Children\'s Playgrounds
The Leisure Services Committee are currently considering a report put forward by a Borough Engineer with regard to making a no smoking policy in Children’s playgrounds on the Island.
The proposal has been put forward in an effort to clamp down on the damaging effects that second hand smoke can have on children.
The first step in cutting down on it will be to erect signs around the parks and playgrounds of Douglas urging people not to light up – this will come at an estimated cost of £1,500.
Further details on the fixed fines and penalties that will accompany the new policy will be published shortly.
