Property owners are being reminded of their legal obligations to meet safety requirements - or risk facing a hefty fine.
That's according to the Island's Fire & Rescue Service, following a number of complaints.
After carrying out inspections, the force says some fire safety standards have fallen significantly and action will be taken.
Areas causing the most concern include fire door failures and testing of fire alarms.
Those who aren't up to scratch could be fined up to £10,000 or even spend two years behind bars.
