A scheme to rebuild Douglas promenade will cost around £150 an inch.
In Tynwald this month, Infrastructure Minister Ray Harmer will ask for £20.7 million of taxpayer's money to carry out the work.
The work, which would start next September, is set to include junction improvements, pedestrian crossings and replacing horse tram tracks.
Mr Harmer says the whole length of the Promenade, from Peveril Square to Strathallan Crescent, will be reconstructed.
