Post Office to increase prices

The Post Office has blamed growing commercial costs for an increase in the price of stamps and some postal services.

From the end of April the cost of sending a local letter will rise by 1 penny to 38 pence and the cost of sending a UK bound letter will rise by 3 pence to 41 pence.

This is however substantially less than price hikes announced by the Royal Mail which has increased the cost of a First Class Stamp to 60 pence.

Among the other services affected by price increases in the Isle of Man are special delivery, airmail, international packets and parcelforce – all of which are provided under licence from Royal Mail.

Despite the increases the Post Office has said that its rates continue to be one of the lowest in Europe.
