A man from Onchan is on probation after trying to have more than 200 diazepam tablets sent through the post.
Paul James Beattie of Harbour Road admitted three offences when he appeared before High Bailiff Jayne Hughes at Douglas Courthouse this week.
He faced two counts of being unlawfully concerned in the supply of class C drugs and one of possessing cannabis.
The court hear he’d tried to have two parcels, each containing more than 100 tablets, delivered to his home address in December.
Both were intercepted by the Post Office, and when police arrested him officers discovered 10 grammes of cannabis worth more than £200.
Beattie’s advocate told the hearing his client used the drugs to relieve back pain after decades in the building industry.
Mrs Hughes made him the subject of a combination order, meaning he’ll spend 12 months on probation and do 100 hours of community service.
The drugs were ordered to be forfeited and destroyed, and Beattie also has to pay £125 costs.
